Xavier Filsaime, S (Florida commit)

Texas's top priority among its late-cycle flip targets in the 2024 class is easily the elite five-star McKinney (TX) safety and Florida Gators commit Xavier Filsaime. The No. 2 safety recruit in the nation in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking is taking an official visit to Texas this weekend after Sark and staff went in-home with him earlier this week.

The Longhorns have been putting relentless pressure on Florida to keep Filsaime's commitment in their class. After Texas got in on this recruitment pretty late in the cycle, extending an offer to Filsaime in early October, the Longhorns have made up a ton of ground in the last couple of months.

Filsaime has floated more toward Texas since he took a midweek unofficial visit to Austin a couple of weeks ago. Texas's staff has also gone in-home with him twice in as many weeks, as Sark and safeties coach Blake Gideon continue to show Filsaime he is a top priority for them in the 2024 class heading into signing day.

If the official visit goes well for Filsaime this weekend in Austin, it feels more likely than not that he ends up flipping his commitment to Texas during the Early Signing Period next week. Since Filsaime is expected to be an early enrollee for the spring semester, he will sign early next week.

Something worth noting late this week with Filsaime is that Florida's new defensive backs coach Will Harris and head coach Billy Napier made an in-home visit with him and his family.

As of the writing of this article on Dec. 14, Filsaime continues to trend in Texas's favor heading into an important official visit weekend on the 40.
