Dominick McKinley, DL (Texas A&M commit)

There are a few schools that still remain in the mix in the race to flip the commitment of the elite five-star Lafayette (LA) Acadiana defensive lineman Dominick McKinley from the Texas A&M Aggies. After McKinley decided to hold off signing with the Aggies during the Early Signing Period this week, Texas and the LSU Tigers were the two schools generating the most buzz among those that could realistically flip his commitment from Texas A&M heading into the late signing period in February.

LSU is probably the school with the most buzz in this recruitment after the Early Signing Period wrapped up on Dec. 22. McKinley is set to officially visit Baton Rouge to see head coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers from Jan. 12-14.

LSU is always a dangerous school to watch in these late-cycle recruitments with these elite in-state guys. Justin Wells of Inside Texas reported on Dec. 22 (paid content) that LSU has picked up their communication with McKinley in the last few weeks.

Texas has a shot to make a move in this recruitment in the next month or so. Sark is expected to make an in-home visit with McKinley in January. Texas will also reportedly push to get McKinley back to campus for a visit in the coming weeks before the late signing period in February.

The other school to reportedly watch in this recruitment is the Tennessee Volunteers. Tennessee will also push to get McKinley to campus for a visit next month.

McKinley is the other top defensive line flip target, along with Foster, who the Longhorns are pushing to fill the last spot at the position in the 2024 class heading into the late signing period.
