Texas football stayed red-hot recruiting former Alabama Crimson Tide players in the NCAA Transfer Portal late this week. After Texas added a couple of Alabama commits earlier in the week, head coach Steve Sarkisian nabbed another one on Jan. 18.

Sophomore Alabama tight end Amari Niblack is the latest Tide transfer to join the Longhorns after he announced his commitment to Texas on social media on Jan. 18. He joins former Alabama standout sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Bond and junior linebacker Kendrick Blackshire among the impact Tide players Sarkisian has brought into the program early this offseason.

Texas football remains active in the portal after adding Alabama transfer TE Amari Niblack

Niblack's addition will completely open up the playbook on offense while giving Sarkisian another weapon to make life easier for rising redshirt junior quarterback Quinn Ewers in the SEC in 2024. He also likely completes this reload that Sarkisian and the Longhorns have done in the receiving corps via the transfer portal this offseason.

Texas has added three immediate impact transfer wideouts in this portal cycle and one top-tier tight end talent in Niblack to replace what they're losing with four starters headed for the NFL Draft this spring.

The Longhorns' staff has also addressed a handful of positional needs on the defensive side of the ball via the portal since the December window opened on Dec. 4. Texas has upgraded the secondary with the addition of former Clemson Tigers junior safety Andrew Mukuba. Blackshire also added SEC experience and size to the linebacking corps with his addition.

Remaining portal needs for the Longhorns after seven commitments early this offseason are defensive back and interior defensive line. Texas has a defensive back target on its radar, but defensive line could be a more patient process as we wait for the next DL coach to be announced after the departure of Bo Davis to the LSU Tigers a couple of weeks ago.

Here's a prediction of the next transfer commitment for the Longhorns after Niblack on Jan. 18.
