Multiple recruiting classes are in focus for Texas football on the trail heading into signing day on Dec. 20. While Texas is looking to end the 2024 cycle on a high note, there is also a heavy focus right now on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class.

Junior Day is roughly one month away for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns (scheduled for Jan. 20). And Texas just landed a commitment from the touted four-star Calhoun (GA) tight end Emaree Winston over the UCF Knights and Ohio State Buckeyes on Dec. 18.

5-Star LSU WR commit Dakorien Moore still a top target for Texas football in the 2025 class

Among the top priority recruits for the Longhorns in the 2025 class heading into the offseason is the elite five-star Duncanville wide receiver and LSU Tigers commit Dakorien Moore. The No. 1 wide receiver recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking is the clear-cut top priority among in-state wideouts in this cycle for the Longhorns.

Despite Moore committing to LSU during the summer, Texas has not thrown in the towel in this recruitment. Sark and wide receivers coach Chris Jackson have continued to prioritize Moore in the 2025 class this fall, as have a few key commitments for the Longhorns. Most notably, five-star 2024 Duncanville edge rusher and Texas commit Colin Simmons has been in Moore's ear constantly since before he committed to LSU a few months ago.

Moore has visited Texas for a gameday this fall. He visited Texas unofficially for the Wyoming game at DKR on Sep. 16. And a report from Justin Wells of Inside Texas last weekend (paid content) indicates that Moore is expected to visit Austin in January, which would likely be for the first Junior Day of the offseason.

Texas among the schools pressing for Moore the most heading into the offseason

Texas has been the one constant among the schools chipping away at Moore's commitment to LSU in the last few months. That continues to be the case heading into the offseason.

Mike Roach of 247Sports reported on Dec. 19 that the Oregon Ducks, Florida State Seminoles, and Texas are the three schools making the biggest push for him. He also noted schools close to home in DFW, including the SMU Mustangs and TCU Horned Frogs, among those still communicating with him late this fall.

Texas coaches and recruits putting the "pressure on" Moore

The Longhorns reportedly "continue to put the pressure on along with a couple of his teammates are are already committed to Texas". Two of Moore's teammates at Duncanville, Simmons and four-star defensive lineman Alex January, have reportedly talked with him to varying degrees about the Longhorns.

Simmons reportedly talks about Texas "every time he sees" Moore.

Moore is the top wideout in the 2025 class after Ryan Williams reclassifies to 2024

Five-star Saraland (AL) product and Alabama Crimson Tide commit Ryan Williams reclassified down from 2025 to the 2024 class earlier tihs fall. Williams was the nation's top-ranked wide receiver recruit in the 2025 class in all the major recruiting services before reclassifying.

Williams moving to the 2024 class makes Moore the top guy at wideout in the 2025 class. Moore remains the No. 1 rated recruit in Texas in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking this fall.

Moore and Duncanville just won their second straight UIL 6A1 state title with a 49-33 win over North Shore at AT&T Stadium on Dec. 16.
