The focus for Texas football on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class this fall has a large emphasis on the defensive tackle position. Texas has multiple flip targets on its radar for the class of 2025 on the trail this fall.

Texas football continues to put the pressure on 4-Star FSU DL commit Myron Charles in the 2025 class

Texas's top out-of-state flip target at defensive tackle for this cycle early this fall is the highly touted four-star Port Charlotte (FL) defensive lineman and Florida State Seminoles commit Myron Charles.

Defensive line coach Kenny Baker and the Longhorns have not thrown in the towel in this recruitment over the past couple of months since Charles committed to Florida State over Texas and the Miami Hurricanes during the summer.

Charles looks to be set to take an unofficial visit for a gameday at DKR this season, probably within the next month or two. He was also close to taking an unofficial visit to Texas for the late-July pool party/BBQ bash.

Despite Charles not making it to the pool party a little over one month ago in Austin, it seems based on recent reporting surrounding this recruitment that Texas has chipped away at his commitment to FSU this fall. With things not going well for Florida State at the start of the 2024 season, Texas has ramped up the communication and efforts on the recruiting trail to flip Charles from the Seminoles.

And it's not like the Longhorns weren't already showing significant interest in flipping Charles from Florida State late this summer on the recruiting trail anyway.

If Charles does make it to Austin for a gameday visit at DKR over the next few weeks to the next couple of months, that's a good sign that the Longhorns have a good shot at flipping him from Florida State before signing day in December. Horns247 reports (paid content) that Texas has "growing optimism" in its chances to ultimately win this recruitment by signing day for the 2025 class in early December.

DL recruiting remains a top priority for 2025 for Texas this fall

Texas wants to add at least two or three more defensive tackle commitments in the 2025 class by signing day. The Longhorns were light on numbers along the D-Line, adding only two from the 2024 class.

Texas currently has one defensive tackle committed in the 2025 class, after flipping Folsom (CA) four-star Josiah Sharma from the Oregon Ducks in late July.
