EDGE recruiting has been a major strength for Texas football on the trail in the last 18 months. After Texas signed multiple blue-chip edge rusher recruits in the 2024 class (including 5-Star Colin Simmons and 4-Star Zina Umeozulu), the defensive coaching staff is looking to continue that success at the position on the recruiting trail for this cycle.

A top out-of-state EDGE prospect in the 2025 class for Pete Kwiatkowski and the Longhorns, Danville (CA) San Ramon Valley four-star Marco Jones, is preparing for his upcoming official visit to Texas. Jones is scheduled to officially visit in late June.

Texas could get the final official visit (June 21-23) from Jones during his summer trips. He's also reportedly (per 247Sports) scheduled to officially visit the Michigan Wolverines (May 31-June 2), Alabama Crimson Tide (June 7-9), and Oregon Ducks (June 14-16).

Jones's trip to Texas in late June will be his first visit to Austin since the start of the 2024 offseason.

Inside Texas reported on May 6 (paid content) that the Longhorns are currently in a "great spot" among the top group of schools for Jones entering summer official visits. PK and Johnny Nansen have built good relationships with Jones and his family.

"Texas is another school with an elite coaching staff and elite defense's year in and year out."

Texas has also done a nice job of selling Jones's fit along this defensive front. He likes the potential of this defense under PK and Nansen entering the SEC in 2024.

Jones included Texas among his 10 finalist schools he announced this spring. His other nine finalist schools include Oregon, Penn State, Alabama, Florida State, Texas A&M, USC, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Maryland.

As far as any potential decision timeline goes for Jones, it sounds like he could commit as soon as the middle of summer. There is the possibility that other schools in Jones's top 10, namely USC and Penn State, could get official visits before he commits entering his senior season.
