The next big event on the recruiting trail this summer for Texas football is the Elite Camp in early June. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian will host dozens of prospects, namely from the 2026 and 2027 classes, for the Elite Camp in Austin on the weekend of June 1.

Texas football in the mix for elite 2026 QB priority Dia Bell entering the summer

Among the biggest recruits visiting the Longhorns for the Elite Camp in a few weeks is the No. 3 quarterback recruit in the nation in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite, five-star Dia Bell. The 6-foot-2 and 195-pound signal caller from Fort Lauderdale (FL) American Heritage High School will be on campus for the first time since the first week of spring practice on March 19.

Texas offered Bell during his first unofficial trip to Austin of this offseason in mid-March. That offer and visit made a big impression on Bell, helping the Longhorns solidify themselves among the top group of schools in this recruitment entering the summer.

The Longhorns are making a big move at an opportune time in this recruitment. It sounds like Bell is getting closer to a decision entering summer visits, which comes just a few weeks before his trip to Texas for the Elite Camp on June 1.

On Texas Football's Gerry Hamilton reported on May 11 (premium content) that Texas is either "the favorite or has a 50-50 shot" to land Bell and/or another top quarterback target in the 2026 class. The other priority target at quarterback for the Longhorns in the 2026 class is San Marcos (CA) Mission Hills four-star Troy Huhn.

Huhn will also be in attendance for the Texas Elite Camp in early June.

Texas landed a quarterback commitment during the Elite Camp last year in early June, Saraland (AL) four-star KJ Lacey. It sounds like Texas could have its quarterback to build around in the 2026 class in place either during the weekend of the Elite Camp or soon thereafter this offseason.

Bell has also taken visits to see the Penn State Nittany Lions, Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, and Auburn Tigers since the start of the 2024 offseason. He is reportedly expected to visit LSU, Ohio State, and Penn State before the end of the summer.
