Texas in the mix for elite 2026 S Bralan Womack

Blake Gideon and Texas have forged an in-roads in the recruitment for 5-Star 2026 S from Mississippi, Bralan Womack, in the last few months.

Texas football is still in the early stages of building out the big board for the secondary on the recruiting trail for the class of 2026 at this point of the offseason. A key position group Texas's defensive staff has pinpointed for the 2026 cycle as an important need is safety.

Blake Gideon and the Longhorns have already zeroed in on a handful of elite safety targets in the 2026 class, including a handful from out-of-state. A top out-of-state safety target that Gideon and the Longhorns have heightened the communication with on the recruiting trail in the last few months is the elite Flowood (MS) Hartfield Academy five-star Bralan Womack.

The No. 1 recruit from Mississippi in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite, Womack is the type of elite out-of-state safety recruit Texas wants to pursue on the defensive side of the ball from the southeast.

The 6-foot and 185-pound DB from Brandon, MS, is one of the rangiest and most athletic safeties in the 2026 class.

Texas has yet to officially extend a scholarship offer to Womack. But Gideon and the Longhorns have clearly expressed their interest in Womack in the 2026 class. He visited Texas unofficially for a game last fall on Black Friday against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

247Sports also reports that Womack is scheduled to make a return visit to Texas unofficially for the late-July BBQ/pool party. The pool party and BBQ for the Longhorns this summer is scheduled for July 25. Womack is also scheduled to unofficially visit the Texas A&M Aggies on the same weekend that he sees Texas, on July 26.

Texas has worked its way among Womack's top group of eight or 10 schools early on in his recruitment. He said he communicates with Gideon regularly and is excited to get back to Texas next week for his visit to the pool party/BBQ.

Some of Womack's other top schools he's visited since last fall are the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Louisville Cardinals, and Alabama Crimson Tide.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Texas were to extend a scholarship offer to Womack next week during the pool party visit on July 25.
