Texas football added another quality player via the walk-on program in the 2024 class on Thursday morning. Three-star Fort Worth (TX) All Saints Episcopal running back Reid Watkins announced his commitment to Texas as part of the walk-on program on his X account on May 23.

Watkins was committed to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane since mid-February 2024. But he elected to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Texas instead.

He also held offers from FBS programs like the Houston Cougars, Navy Midshipmen, Army Knights, New Mexico State Aggies, and Troy Trojans.

Watkins transferred to All Saints Episcopal for his senior season last fall after playing the first three years of his high school football at Brock (TX). He played both sides of the ball and special teams for Brock and All Saints Episcopal throughout his high school football career.

He played running back and defensive back at both schools he attended, while also contributing in the return game and with the coverage units on special teams.

In his final season at Brock High School in 2022, Watkins registered over 400 all-purpose yards and eight total touchdowns. Of the 405 all purpose yards he racked up in 2022, 298 of them were rushing yards (averaged over six yards per carry).

Watkins posted impressive stats playing the safety position for Brock in 2021. As just a sophomore playing varsity at Brock, Watkins registered nearly 70 combined tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions, 18 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

During his senior season at All Saints, Watkins registered over 1,300 all-purpose yards. He broke out with 894 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, and 218 receiving yards on 22 catches. Watkins also returned a kick for a touchdown last season for All Saints.
