Texas Longhorns basketball to visit NC State Wolfpack for the ACC/SEC Challenge
By Sam Fariss
In the Longhorns' first season in the SEC, Texas will visit NC State as a part of the ACC/SEC Challenge, a sixteen-game series between the two conferences.
Head coach Rodney Terry is heading into his second season as the official head coach of the Horns' program, and is looking to improve upon his performance in the 2023-24 season.
Last year, Texas finished the season with a 21-13 overall record and made a run to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
While the Longhorns lost to the Tennessee Volunteers and former head coach Rick Barnes in the Big Dance, Terry's first season with the team promised an omptimistic future.
As Texas enters the SEC, the team will not only have to see the Vols on a regular basis, but they will also have to take on some of the toughest teams in the country as they play Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky, and Arkansas.
On the other side of the court, the Wolfpack is coming off a historic run for the NC State program.
DJ Horne and DJ Burns led the Wolfpack to an appearance in the Final Four, where the team devastatingly lost to Zach Edey and the Purdue Boilermakers.
NC State finished the 2023-24 season with a 26-15 overall record, and will be looking for an even better finish to their 2024-25 season.
Head coach Kevin Keatts is heading into his seventh season with the Wolfpack and has a 139-94 overall record with the team.
The Longhorns are set to play against Ohio State in the Hall of Fame Series Las Vegas Opening Night on November 4. The rest of their 2024-25 schedule has yet to be officially announced.
