Texas Longhorns' record against every SEC football team ahead of the 2024 season
By Sam Fariss
Now that the Horns are officially in the SEC, fans are having to adjust their regularly scheduled rivalries to focus on a few new opponents.
As Texas prepares for its first football season as a part of its new conference, the Longhorns only have a losing record against two SEC programs.
In other words, the Horns have the upper hand on 13 of the 15 other SEC teams and the teams that have bested Texas might surprise you.
Overall, Texas is 255-145-13 against teams that are in the Southeastern Conference.
Here is the Texas Longhorns’ record against all 15 teams currently in the SEC:
Recently, the rivalry between the Horns and the Crimson Tide has been reborn. Ever since the 2009 National Championship game, when Alabama upset Texas, the two have been bitter opponents.
Texas has a 6 game lead on the Tide for now and the two rivals are not scheduled to play each other in 2024.
The first time the Longhorns and the Razorbacks played was in 1894 and the Horns walked away with the victory.
Most recently, the Razorbacks squashed the Horns' hopes for good showing against their future SEC opponent in 2021.
The last time the Tigers and Longhorns met on a football field was in 1991, nearly 35 years ago.
Texas has lost just three games against Auburn and has walked away victorious five times. On average, the Horns have outscored the Tigers by 2.5 points per game.
Surprisingly, the Horns have only faced the Gators three in the past. Unsurprisingly, Texas has won two out of the three matchups between the two teams, the only game the Horns didn't win was a tie.
Texas and Florida are scheduled to play in Austin on Nov. 9, 2024.
The Georgia Bulldogs have only defeated in the Longhorns once in history.
Meanwhile, Texas has walked away victorious on four separate occasions, including the (in)famous Sugar Bowl after which Sam Ehlinger called out, "We're baaaaaaaack."
In the only matchup between between Texas and Kentucky, the Longhorns walked away with a minimal 7-6 victory over the Wildcats.
Keep in mind, the only time these two programs have shared a field was in 1951. Texas and Kentucky are scheduled to play in Austin on Nov. 23, 2024.
The LSU Tigers are keeping pace with the Longhorns as the two programs strive to succeed in the SEC.
As Texas joins the Tigers' conference, the two programs are almost dead even in the matchup history. The Horns have just a one game lead over LSU as they head into 2024.
The only team that the Longhorns have an even record against in the SEC is the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Over four games, the two teams have each one two matchups and Texas won the most recent matchup on New Years Day in 1999.
The Missouri Tigers have roared to life under head coach Eliah Drinkwitz. Unfortunately for Missouri, the Tigers are 12 games behind Texas in the two programs' history.
Drinkwitz and the Tigers will have to wait to try to catch up to the Horns until a later season because they are not scheduled to play in 2024.
The Red River Rivalry belongs to the Longhorns by 12 total games.
Over the 124 years that Texas and Oklahoma have clashed, Texas has walked away with 63 victories and the Sooners only have 51 wins to their name.
Luckily, the rivalry is here to stay as the two teams join the SEC.
Similarly to the Missouri program, Ole Miss has been brought back to life by head coach Lane Kiffin just in time for Texas to join the conference.
Over eight games, the Longhorns have walked away victorious six times but lost the most recent matchup in 2013.
One of the two matchups in which Texas trails its SEC opponent is against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The two tames have only met on the field once but the Gamecocks walked away with a 21-27 victory in 1957.
The real UT has defeated the not-so-real UT twice.
All jokes aside, Texas has a 2-1 game lead on the Tennessee Volunteers.
If the Vols are looking to even the score, and maybe lay claim to the 'UT' acronym, they will have to wait until at least the end of the regular season.
Man, oh man, oh man. TAM-Who?
The Longhorns have more than doubled the win number that the Texas A&M Aggies have on Texas.
Now that the in-state rivalry is back to full steam ahead, the Aggies are an abysmal 39 wins behind the 76-win mark that the Horns hold over their head.
The second team who has a winning record over the Horns is shockingly, embarrassingly, and devastatingly Vanderbilt.
The Commodores have pulled out a stunning eight wins over Texas while the Horns have only walked away victorious three times.
