Daylan McCutcheon

Four-star Lucas (TX) Lovejoy wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon is set to announce on July 13. McCutcheon will decide on Saturday afternoon between the Ohio State Buckeyes, Florida State Seminoles, SMU Mustangs, USC Trojans, and Texas.

The Longhorns have been involved with McCutcheon going back a few years now, as Texas was one of the first schools he visited during the recruiting process in the spring/summer of 2021. But Texas has dragged their feet at times in this recruitment, including waiting to offer McCutcheon until the spring of last year.

Most of the schools McCutcheon has been very interested in are from out-of-state. And it appears he is likely to land with one of the top out-of-state contenders in this recruitment when he announces this coming weekend.

Inside Texas reports this week (paid content) that Florida State and Ohio State are the frontrunners in the race to land a commitment from McCutcheon entering his announcement in a couple of days.

That said, if there were to be a late push in this recruitment from a big in-state school, it would likely be because Texas has changed its mind about the final wide receiver spot in this class for 2025. McCutcheon is a very consistent and productive wideout that Texas and Jackson have liked for over a year now, so it's not out of the question that they stay in communication with the blue-chip receiver from Dallas-Fort Worth.
