Texas football is getting more active on the recruiting trail entering the summer, identifying top out-of-state flip targets in the 2025 class at key positions. One elite out-of-state edge rusher offer Texas and Pete Kwiatkowski have consistently communicated with late this spring is the five-star Florida State Seminoles commit and Cocoa (FL) product Javion Hilson.

The No. 1 edge rusher recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite will officially visit Texas in early June. Hilson was originally scheduled to officially visit Tuscaloosa to see the Alabama Crimson Tide on the weekend of June 7-9. But he switched the Alabama official visit to Texas for that weekend.

Hilson is also scheduled to officially visit the Florida Gators (May 31), UCF Knights (June 14), and Florida State (June 21) this summer.

Hilson told 247Sports (paid content) that Florida and Texas "show a lot of love" on the recruiting trail this offseason. He specifically mentioned Texas is "right behind Florida" regarding the teams working to flip his commitment from Florida State entering summer official visits.

The constant communication throughout the spring from PK and the Longhorns led to Hilson switching his June 7-9 official visit from Alabama to Texas.

Hilson was originally committed to Alabama until January 2024. He flipped from Alabama to Florida State following the retirement of legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban early this offseason.

Texas has been in on this recruitment before the last couple of months, though. The Longhorns offered Hilston early last September and have worked to build a good relationship since the offer was sent out.

It sounds like Florida and Texas are the two schools to watch in this recruitment if Hilson does reconsider the status of his commitment to Florida State in the coming months. The Texas A&M Aggies have also reportedly made a late push to get in the mix in this recruitment entering the summer.

If Texas and PK continue to push the envelope to effectively chip away at Hilson's commitment to the Seminoles this summer, things could get interesting in this recruitment entering the fall.
