Texas TE commit Emaree Winston shutting down recruitment
Four-star Calhoun (GA) tight end and Texas football commit Emaree Winston made the trip to Austin this weekend for his final official visit of the summer. Winston made his second visit to Texas in the last three months, including an unofficial trip for the spring game on April 20.
Texas football reaffirms the commitment of 4-Star TE Emaree Winston
Texas and special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks gave Winston and his family a great official visit experience in the last couple of days. Winston essentially told Inside Texas on June 23 that Texas gave him all he needed to see to reaffirm his commitment coming out of the weekend.
Multiple other reports and post-visit interviews confirmed on June 23 that Winston has seen all he needs to know that he's pretty much ready to shut down his recruitment this summer.
This is big since the Auburn Tigers had been putting some pressure on Winston to chip away at his commitment to Texas throughout this offseason. Auburn hosted Winston for an official visit on May 31. But Texas has done a nice job staving off the threat from Auburn on the recruiting trail for Winston after his official visit to Austin.
It sounds like senior Texas tight end Juan Davis did a great job as Winston's host this weekend during his official visit.
Not only did Winston get to reaffirm his commitment to Texas this weekend, but he also helped the Longhorns recruit other top target in the 2025 class who officially visited Austin.
He said that he was working to recruit five-star Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, five-star Sachse (TX) wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, and four-star Spring (TX) Dekaney tight end Nick Townsend during this big official visit weekend for the Longhorns.
Banks and the Longhorns are looking to take two tight end commitments in the 2025 cycle. With Winston locked into his commitment following the official visit this weekend, Townsend has become the focal point as Banks' top priority for tight end recruiting in the 2025 class this summer.
Word on the street is that Texas also did a fantastic job with Townsend's recruitment during his official visit in the last 48 hours. Texas is right there with the Alabama Crimson Tide to try and secure their second tight end commit in the 2025 class before the fall this year.
