Texas Women's Basketball locked up the number two seed in the Big 12 Tournament later this week. Yesterday, the Longhorns received multiple awards and honors for their performance during conference play. Freshman forward Madison Booker led the honors, winning the Big 12 Player of the Year Award and Big 12 Freshman of the Year. Several other players received All-Conference honors. Here's a list of the awards and honors the Longhorns received yesterday from the Big 12.

Texas Women's Basketball Big 12 Awards: Madison Booker

Madison Booker winning multiple awards yesterday should be no surprise, considering how she carried the team after Junior guard Rori Harmon tore her ACL. Booker won the Co-Big 12 Player of the Year. She splits the award with Oklahoma Sooners Senior forward Skylar Vann.

Booker also won the Big 12 Freshman of the Year Award and made the All-Big 12 First Team. Booker made strides as a basketball player this season and will be an impact player in the Big 12 Tournament this weekend.

Texas Women's Basketball Big 12 Awards: DeYona Gatson

Longhorns Senior forward DeYona Gatson won some awards as well. She won the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year Award and made the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. Gatson was a team player by coming off the bench.

When Senior forward Taylor Jones needed a break from grabbing rebounds, Gatson provided defense off the bench. She deserves both honors for her performance during conference play this season.

Texas Women's Basketball Big 12 Awards: Shay Holle, Taylor Jones, Aaliyah Moore and Shaylee Gonzales

The other players who received honors were Shay Holle, Taylor Jones, Aaliyah Moore, and Shaylee Gonzales. Holle was named to the All-Big 12 Defensive team and All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. Jones and Gonzales were named All-Big 12 Honorable Mentions.

Lastly, Moore was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team. In conclusion, the Longhorns deserved all of these awards, and hopefully, they can come away with the Big 12 title in Kansas City, Missouri.
