A Texas football’s inaugural win against a conference foe in the SEC was not as pretty as the Longhorns would have liked.

Top ten PFF graded Texas football players after their inaugural SEC win vs. Mississippi State

Texas (5-0, 1-0 SEC) outlasted the Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-4, 0-2 SEC) 35-13 in what can only be described as a grimy and sloppy welcome to SEC play. Texas turned the ball over three times, committed eight penalties for 65 yards, and held the ball for only 25:03 of game time.

That said, the No. 1 ranked team in the country did what great teams do; they found a way to win.

Texas football has started 5-0 for the second time in as many seasons. It looks to carry that momentum into the bye week before consecutive games against No. 19 Oklahoma and No. 5 Georgia.

Here are the top ten PFF graded players from Texas football's win over Mississippi State.

No. 10: Tre Wisner - 73.0

It was a career day for the sophomore running back, finishing with 13 carries and a career-high 88 yards. Wisner took over lead-back duties after Jaydon Blue coughed the ball up for the second time on the first drive of the second half.

Wisner combines power and burst, always looking for contact as he finishes runs. Given Blue's mishaps on Saturday, do not be shocked to see Wisner trot out with the first-team offense against Oklahoma.

No. 9: DeAndre Moore Jr. - 73.3

DeAndre Moore Jr did not practice much this week due to a hip pointer suffered against ULM. The lack of reps did not seem to matter, as Moore finished with four catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns (all career highs).

The sophomore has proven to be the best run-blocking receiver on the roster, finishing with the second-highest run-blocking rating of the week (of all Longhorns). Coach Sarkisian directly attributed this to working behind Jordan Whittington last season.

No. 8: Isaiah Bond - 74.0

If there is one thing Texas fans have learned through five weeks, it is that Isaiah Bond is very, very fast. The Alabama transfer finished with five catches for 74 yards, adding a 26-yard end-around touchdown.

In a loaded receiver room, Bond has established himself as the alpha. He leads the team with 20 catches, 364 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns (tied with Moore and Matthew Golden).

No. 7: Jaylon Guilbeau - 74.9

When Jahdae Barron moved from star to corner this offseason, it was on Jaylon Guilbeau to fill Barron's void on the inside. The junior has been tremendous for the Longhorns all season long. On Saturday, Guilbeau graded out as Texas' best tackler, second-best run defender, and second-best pass defender. His versatility has been a tremendous asset for Pete Kwiatkowski's defense.

No. 6: Jermayne Lole - 79.4

While it wasn't easy, Coach Sark convinced Louisville transfer Jermayne Lole to join the Longhorns for his final collegiate season. Lole has been a space eater this season, cementing himself as the No. 3 interior defensive lineman behind Alfred Collins and Vernon Broughton.

Lole led the Longhorns with a 77.3 run defense grade on Saturday. He won't stuff the stat sheet, but Lole's presence on the inside cannot be understated, especially as the Horns enter SEC play.

No. 5: Andrew Mukuba - 81.5

Andrew Mukuba is the definition of a "ball-hawking" safety. You cannot go through the middle of this Texas defense without running into No. 4. He finished the day with five tackles and a pass breakup. Mukuba is second on the team in pass breakups, and there is no doubt in my mind he'll end up with a few more interceptions before the season is over.

No. 4: Kelvin Banks - 81.7

Nothing new here. Future top-ten NFL Draft pick Kelvin Banks had another dominant day at the office. He once again allowed zero pressures on Saturday. You cannot understate how helpful it is for a young quarterback to have a weapon like Banks protecting your blindside. Banks is fourth in the country in PFF graded pass blocking

No. 3: Colin Simmons - 85.6

True freshman Colin Simmons is here to stay. The Duncanville product finished the win over Mississippi State with seven tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, and one forced fumble. His get-off is truly elite.

Simmons finished with a career-high 41 snaps on Saturday. Expect that number to continue to rise. Simmons is the best pure pass rusher on this team.

No. 2: Vernon Broughton - 86.9

It was a dominant day for big No. 45 on the inside. Vernon Broughton finished with five tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble. His ability to get after the quarterback from the interior was a big reason why Mississippi State managed just 144 yards through the air.

Do the Longhorns miss T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy II on the interior? 100 percent, but the play of Broughton has helped ease some of those concerns through five games.

No. 1: Arch Manning - 94.2

In his second career start, Arch Manning led the Longhorns into SEC play with poise and composure. The second-year quarterback finished the day 26-of-31 for 324 yards passing and two touchdowns. He added 33 yards and a score on the ground. However, the most important number was zero turnovers.

Manning already has one of the best deep balls in the sport, but his ability to process a defense and work through his progressions gets better with every snap. He was 17-for-18 for 123 yards on passes thrown within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. Manning's combination of playmaking and football IQ make him incredbly dangerous.
