After the season's first two weeks, six out of the seven top teams in this week's AP Poll are all from the SEC football conference. The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 2 Texas football highlight what has been the most dominant top half of any conference in college football to start out this fall.

SEC football expected by Urban Meyer to run the show in the expanded Playoff field

With this being the inaugural season of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff field, it's not all that crazy to think that the SEC will have the most teams that get in this postseason. But former Ohio State Buckeyes and Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer thinks the SEC could have half or more of the 12 teams in the CFP field this postseason.

On the set of FOX's Big Noon Kickoff show on Sep. 14 for Week 3 of the college football season, Meyer said that he thinks the SEC could have seven "worthy" teams for the 12-team CFP.

"For sure I have seven teams that I think of the top 12 should be in the playoff. I don’t think they’re all going to make it, because they’ll beat each other up."

The weekly grind of playing in the SEC is at an all-time high this season after the conference added the Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners from the Big 12. Texas looks as dominant as they've been in the past 15 years under head coach Steve Sarkisian this fall.

Oklahoma isn't up to par with how dominant the Sooners were in the Big 12 for the better part of the past decade for that program, but we still shouldn't doubt their ability to challenge top teams with their stout defense and talent on offense at the skill positions.

At a minimum, Meyer thinks the SEC will get five or six teams in the College Football Playoff this year.

With the 12-team Playoff field featuring the five highest-rated conference champions and seven at-large bids, there is an advantage to the teams getting in that are from the two best and deepest conferences.
