There were some close calls around the SEC football conference from the top games in conference play in Week 3 of the 2024 season. Near-losses for the No. 16 LSU Tigers and No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in key road games in SEC play last weekend caused some shifts across the different tiers of the conference's power rankings entering Week 4.

Georgia was nearly downed by the Kentucky Wildcats in a tight game that ended with a score of 13-12 in Lexington on Sep. 14. LSU also got away with a controversial call on a called-back pick-six late in the game in a three-point win in Columbia, SC, last weekend over the South Carolina Gamecocks.

There will be more big games on the horizon in the SEC in Week 4, including the No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners hosting No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers in Norman with ESPN's College GameDay in town on this coming Saturday.

Here are the updated post-Week 3 SEC power rankings as the top tier of teams continues to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

. . 16. MSU. 1-2 (0-0 SEC). . 530. Week 3 Result: 41-17 loss to Toledo. .

Last week: 16 (--)

The Mississippi State Bulldogs underwent a bad loss in Week 3 to a G5 opponent in the Toledo Rockets at home, by a score fo 41-17. Falling short by double digits to a G5 opponent as a double-digit home favorite is a major disappointment for first-year head coach Jeff Lebby and the Mississippi State program.

After losses to the Arizona State Sun Devils and Toledo in non-conference play, it looks like the SEC slate will be extremely difficult for the Bulldogs to even find a victory or two this fall.
