The fantastic start to the 2024 season ended for head coach Clark Lea and the Vanderbilt Commodores last weekend after suffering an upset 36-32 road loss to the Georgia State Panthers. A late-fourth-quarter game-winning touchdown pass from Georgia State sunk Vandy's hopes for an undefeated 3-0 start for the first time in over a half-decade.
Vandy's offense faces a very difficult test this weekend against a stout Mizzou Tigers defense on the road in Columbia.

A late-game rally came too little too late for the Florida Gators in the fourth quarter in a double-digit home loss to the Texas A&M Aggies at the Swamp last weekend. Head coach Billy Napier needs to show that his team is still willing to get up and play for him this weekend on the road in Starkville against lowly Mississippi State.

Kentucky moves up a few spots on the list this week after their defense gave Georgia's offense all it could handle on Saturday at Kroger Field in Lexington. This was a much more well-prepared defensive effort and a better showing for the ground game for Kentucky last weekend against Georgia than we saw from them two weeks ago in a blowout loss at home against South Carolina.
Unfortunately for head coach Mark Stoops, this is another close loss that otherwise could've been a season-defining win for the Wildcats. It feels like Kentucky gets a lot of those in recent years under Stoops.

After a bad offensive showing in a home loss to the Cal Golden Bears in Week 2, the Auburn Tigers and head coach Hugh Freeze got back on track in Week 3 with a four-score win over New Mexico. New starting quarterback Hank Brown was solid, with four passing touchdowns and no picks, in Auburn's easy win over the Lobos last weekend.
Brown gets his first big test as Auburn's starting quarterback this weekend when they open up SEC play at home against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
