SEC football conference play has arrived with a bang in late September. Last weekend, the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers defeated the No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners in front of a packed-out crowd and the set of ESPN College GameDay in Norman on Sep. 21.

Week 4 in the SEC football conference starts a bevy of big weekends of action on the gridiron

This weekend will see an even higher-ranked matchup in the SEC between the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in Tuscaloosa in primetime at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sep. 28. Every other team that isn't on a BYE in Week 5, excluding the No. 14 LSU Tigers, will either continue or kick off SEC play this week.

Week 4 proved to be another separator that establishes the top group of five or six teams in the SEC from the rest of the pack. There was also some movement in the middle and lower tiers of the SEC in this week's power rankings after an exciting weekend of action in the conference.

Here are the updated post-Week 4 SEC power rankings after a couple of big results in the conference slate over the weekend.

. Mississippi St. . 16. Week 4 Result: 45-28 loss vs. Florida. 530. . . 1-3 (0-1 SEC).

Last week: 16 (--)

Following another blowout double-digit loss, the Mississippi State Bulldogs find themselves entrenched at the bottom of the SEC power rankings this week. Despite facing a Florida Gators squad that struggled out of the gates under head coach Billy Napier last weekend, Mississippi State and first-year head coach Jeff Lebby couldn't pull out the victory in Starkville.

Mississippi State's conference schedule only gets more difficult from here on out, with a daunting road trip looming this weekend to face No. 1 ranked Texas football in Austin on Sep. 28.
