Texas football recruiting got a big jolt on the trail for the 2025 class this week when they flipped four-star Folsom (CA) defensive lineman Josiah Sharma from the Oregon Ducks on July 25. Sharma is Texas's first defensive line commit for the 2025 class at one of the most important position groups for this cycle for head coach Steve Sarkisian and staff.

Flip targets coming into focus for Texas football on the recruiting trail for 2025 this fall

Flipping Sharma's commitment from Oregon is one of the biggest wins on the recruiting trail this summer in the class of 2025. It helps build momentum and confidence on the recruiting trail that Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff are headed in the right direction with key position groups on both sides of the ball for this cycle.

Many of the recruitments the Longhorns were involved with this summer that didn't go their way during the announcements that happened in the last five or six weeks could still go into the fall for Texas.

If Texas wants to flip some of its top targets at key positions in the 2025 class this fall, the staff knows it has to recruit these guys through the finish line on signing day in early December.

Here's a look at three other flip targets the Longhorns can tackle on the recruiting trail this fall after getting Sharma to flip his pledge from Oregon to Texas on Thursday during the late July pool party/BBQ bash event.

Myron Charles, DL (FSU commit)

Sharma and Port Charlotte (FL) four-star Myron Charles were the top out-of-state defensive line priorities for Kenny Baker and the Longhorns in the 2025 class this summer. Texas had originally went 0-for-2 on those decisions for Sharma and Charles when they announced in early June and late July.

But Texas made up for that and a little bit more when it flipped Sharma from Oregon earlier this week.

It's also noteworthy that flipping Sharma from the Ducks could put the Longhorns even more in play to flip Charles from Florida State before signing day in December. Sharma and Charles are good friends who officially visited Texas together in early June.

In fact, Texas was the only school that Sharma and Charles officially visited together during this offseason.

On Texas Football's Bobby Burton reported on the OTF YouTube channel on July 27 that Charles is "still receptive" to communication with the Texas staff late this summer since he committed to Florida State.

Charles remains one of the top out-of-state flip targets at any position group for the Longhorns in the 2025 class entering the fall. It's not out of the question that Texas is able to chip away at his commitment to Florida State and potentially put flipping his pledge to the Longhorns in play entering the Early Signing Period on Dec. 4.
