Predicting every pre-signing day 2025 commit for Texas

Texas's coaching staff is busy on the road on the recruiting trail to try and build more momentum to close out the 2025 class on a high note over the next few weeks.

Michael Terry III, ATH

The top remaining priority recruit among the uncommitted elite prospects in the 2025 class for the Longhorns is five-star San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights athlete Michael Terry III. Texas has led for Terry for the past couple of months, with the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Oregon trailing behind in second and third place.

Terry had a successful unofficial gameday visit to Austin for the Texas-Georgia game on Oct. 19. The Texas visit for the Georgia game at DKR a couple of weeks ago was the final trip Terry had scheduled before signing day in December.

The biggest question in this recruitment for Terry is the decision timeline before signing day. It sounds like there is a possibility he will announce at some point in November. He's also held to saying that he plans to announce during the Early Signing Period.

Javion Hilson, EDGE

After the elite five-star Cocoa (FL) edge rusher Javion Hilson decommitted from the Florida State Seminoles early this fall, the Longhorns looked like the trendy pick in this recruitment. Texas hosted Hilson for a gameday visit unofficially for the Georgia game two weeks ago.

But Texas A&M has made up a lot of ground in this recruitment in the last week or so. Hilson had a successful gameday trip to Texas A&M for the LSU game last weekend, which gave the Aggies a sizable boost with the elite EDGE recruit from Florida.

All signs point to this being a true battle on the recruiting trail between the Longhorns and Aggies in the race to land Hilson's commitment, entering signing day in a couple of months in December. Texas still has a great shot to win this recruitment, but it has to close out strong to prevent the surging Aggies from making up any more ground with Hilson in the next four or five weeks.
