A couple of months after the Early Signing Period for Texas basketball's 2025 recruiting class, head coach Rodney Terry and staff are still targeting a handful of elite blue-chip recruits on the trail for this cycle in the spring for the late signing period.

Can Texas basketball reel in a second blue-chip commitment in the 2025 class before the late signing day?

Terry and the Longhorns are looking to add at least one more forward from high school recruiting in the 2025 class before this cycle is in the books in a few months this coming spring. Texas also must rebuild the backcourt and wing rotations this upcoming offseason, with only one starter realistically returning to the Longhorns next season (junior guard Jordan Pope).

Texas signed one prospect in the 2025 recruiting class during the Early Signing Period in mid-November, high-four-star Houston (TX) Link Academy power forward John Clark.

High school recruiting and the transfer portal will both play key roles in Terry and the Longhorns staff assembling the roster for the 2025-26 season in the SEC. Here's a prediction of the first five-star prospect from the high school ranks who could commit to the Longhorns after the new year for 2025.

Billy White III, SF

Elite 2026 Corpus Christi (TX) Veterans Memorial forward Billy White III is one of the top in-state priority recruits for the Longhorns in the 2026 class. White, the No. 2 prospect from Texas in the 2026 class according to On3, has felt like a top priority for the Longhorns since last offseason.

White has visited Texas multiple times, including for a football game during the fall and a basketball game at the Moody Center during non-conference play earlier this season. Terry and a couple of the Texas assistant coaches also visited White during a tournament last month.

The three schools to watch in this recruitment for White are the Tennessee Volunteers, TCU Horned Frogs, and Texas. He's already visited each of those schools at least one time, and has the most consistent communication and closest geographical ties to TCU and Texas in-state.
