Predicting Texas's next 2025 commit after DB Kade Phillips

Texas is looking to get up to two dozen or maybe 25 commitments in the 2025 class with high school recruiting entering signing day on Wednesday of this week.

Michael Fasusi, OT (OU commit)

The top priority offensive line recruit for the Longhorns and Kyle Flood in the 2025 class heading into signing day tomorrow is the elite five-star Lewisville (TX) offensive tackle, and Oklahoma Sooners commit Michael Fasusi.

Despite taking unofficial gameday visits to Austin and College Station, respectively, to see the Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies in the past two weeks, Fasusi still remains committed to Oklahoma.

While Fasusi was impressed by Texas's two victories during his gameday visits in the past two weekends to see the Longhorns and then A&M for the Lone Star Showdown last weekend, the depth for Flood along the offensive line could end up hurting their chances here.

Fasusi wants the chance to play immediately at offensive tackle in college. But the Longhorns having both Trevor Goosby and Brandon Baker next in line at the offensive tackle position on the Forty Acres adds a big hurdle to Texas trying to sell Fasusi on early playing time in 2025.

Texas and Texas A&M are still pushing to try to flip Fasusi's commitment from Oklahoma before signing day on Dec. 4. Just before signing day on Wednesday morning, the Longhorns and Aggies seem to have about equal chances of landing Fasusi if he does flip from Oklahoma.

The recent reporting for Fasusi's recruitment is that Oklahoma feels pretty good about its chances of hanging onto his commitment through the Early Signing Period later this week. Oklahoma likely keeping longtime offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh on staff under head coach Brent Venables helps the Sooners case with trying to hang onto Fasusi's pledge and get him to sign on the dotted line tomorrow.

However, if the Longhorns want to have any realistic shot at getting the No. 1 class in the nation for the 2025 cycle in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking, it needs to flip Fasusi from the Sooners on signing day.
