Javion Hilson, EDGE
Multiple battles on the recruiting trail remain for the Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies in the 2025 class late this fall.
High-four-star Cocoa (FL) edge rusher Javion Hilson has recently taken gameday visits to Austin and College Station, respectively. After Hilson de-committed from the Florida State Seminoles a couple of months ago, it looked like Texas was the heavy favorite to win out for the elite EDGE from the Sunshine State.
But a successful gameday visit to see Texas A&M defeat the LSU Tigers by double digits a few weeks ago really boosted the Aggies stock chances in this recruitment. Since that late-October visit to Texas A&M for the LSU game, the Longhorns and Aggies have traded blows and battled for communication consistently in this recruitment for Hilson.
Florida and Florida State are still involved in this recruitment, but Texas and Texas A&M appear to be the top two schools for Hilson before signing day next month.
It's worth monitoring to see if the Longhorns can get Hilson back to Austin for an unofficial gameday visit before signing day in a few weeks. Texas is expected to make a big push to host key 2025 and 2026 class recruits for the final home game of the regular season in the SEC on Nov. 23 against the Kentucky Wildcats at DKR in Austin.
Another important game that will play into Hilson's decision as a big factor before signing day is the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry game in the SEC on Nov. 30. The winner of that Texas-Texas A&M game could ultimately win this recruitment if that school is also able to close out strong on the recruiting trail for Hilson.
