Joseph Mbatchou, DL (Florida commit)

Speaking of high-upside defensive line prospects in the 2025 class, Texas really wants four-star Florida Gators defensive tackle commit Joseph Mbatchou this fall. After Florida's rough start on the field this fall, other schools started chipping away at Mbatchou's commitment to the Gators and head coach Billy Napier.

Since Florida has been playing better in the SEC in the past few weeks, the Gators' status in this recruitment, hanging onto Mbatchou's commitment, has to at least have steadied out a bit. But considering the fact that Florida has the toughest remaining strength of schedule (per ESPN College FPI schedule index ranking), Napier's seat could heat up again depending on how the Gators fair in the win column in the next few weeks.

The three schools pushing the hardest for Mbatchou to flip his commitment from the Gators this fall are the Auburn Tigers, Texas, and Georgia. Over the next month or so, Mbatchou is scheduled to officially visit multiple SEC schools.

His official visit schedule begins next weekend, where he's slated to make the trip to Austin to see Texas host Georgia at DKR on Oct. 19. He'll also make official trips to Auburn and Florida in November before signing day the following month.

Kenny Baker and the Longhorns have done a nice job building relationships during this recruitment process for Mbatchou. If Texas knocks it out of the park during Mbatchou's official visit to Austin next weekend for the Georgia game, that will do nothing but help the Longhorns' case in this recruitment.

Mbatchou is one of the very talented athletes along the defensive line that Texas sees a ton of potential in over the long-term and wants to develop from this deep class of defensive tackles from the state of Georgia.
