Jaydon Chatman, OL
The offensive line depth that Kyle Flood and the Longhorns have built in the trenches, recruiting "big humans" from the high school level over the past four years at Texas, has established this O-Line as one of the best pass-protecting units in the P4. Texas ranked seventh in the P4 in pass-blocking efficiency in 2024 (per PFF).
This season, Flood, head coach Steve Sarkisian, and the Longhorns took advantage of redshirt freshman offensive lineman Jaydon Chatman's versatility and movement speed out in the open field as a blocker in jumbo packages to help block for the ground game.
Chatman has taken identical offensive snaps in the past two seasons, getting 32 offensive snaps as a blocker each campaign. He took one snap against Ohio State in a jumbo package in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Cotton Bowl last Friday.
Chatman is one of many former blue-chip recruits that Flood has brought to the Longhorns to develop this offensive line from the ground up.
In the past two seasons, Chatman has mostly taken snaps late in the games in garbage time for the Longhorns during the regular season.
He saw offensive snaps in four games during the regular season, including in SEC play late in the game when the Longhorns were up big against the Florida Gators in Week 11.
Chatman's progress up the two-deep depth chart in the past 12 months hasn't seen him consistently crack Flood's top group of offensive tackles.
