Warren Roberson, DB
Texas's secondary was arguably the best position group on the defensive side of the ball for the Longhorns this past season. The Longhorns had the No. 1 ranked pass defense in the SEC in terms of yards and passing touchdowns allowed.
Thanks to a plethora of young talent and depth, and proven experience among the upperclassmen, the Longhorns boasted a skilled and disciplined secondary that did a great job preventing big plays and generated turnovers in bunches (1.5 interceptions per game in 2024).
Senior corner and Thorpe Award winner Jahdae Barron and senior All-SEC safety Andrew Mukuba led the way among the upperclassmen for Texas's secondary starters. Non-seniors like sophomore corner Malik Muhammad and junior nickel Jaylon Guilbeau also made significant contributions on a consistent basis to Texas's defensive secondary this past fall.
Texas's quantity of former blue-chip talented recruits who have added a ton of depth to the secondary since last offseason has created consistent competition for spots on the two-deep in practice. Underclassmen like freshman corner Kobe Black, freshman Wardell Mack, and redshirt freshman Warren Roberson has made first and second-team practice reps hard to come by for some of the younger DBs on the roster since last offseason.
Roberson was a contributor in a handful of games on defense for Texas in the 2024 regular season. He was also a consistent contributor as a gunner for Texas's special teams unit with kick and punt coverage. Roberson played nearly 300 special teams snaps when you include pretty much every S/T unit for Banks and the Longhorns this past season.
