Predicting Texas's next transfer after Jaray Bledsoe
Malik Agbo, OL
Last offseason, the Longhorns had one of the deepest and most scholarship-heavy offensive line rosters in the SEC entering spring camp. Offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns went into spring ball last offseason with 18 scholarship offensive linemen ready to compete in practice and drills in March and April 2024.
Texas's depth will remain strong along the offensive line regarding numbers and overall talent on the two-deep in the SEC in 2025. The Longhorns might not have upward of 16 scholarship offensive linemen on the spring roster next offseason in spring drills, but the numbers could still be three units deep along the O-Line.
Competition along the offensive line will see multiple position battles take place to determine the first and second-team groups out of the gates next spring in practice.
Depending on how many starters the Longhorns return in the trenches next season in 2025, Texas could have to turn to the portal for help around the line of scrimmage offensively and for the defensive front.
Second and third-year players along the offensive line for the Longhorns could face a lot of competition on the depth chart for spots and valuable practice reps to climb the two-deep next year.
Texas offensive linemen entering their third and fourth years with the Longhorns in the trenches, like Jaydon Chatman, Malik Agbo, and Andre Cojoe, have seen their roles up to second-team on the depth chart due to injuries for some games this regular season.
Agbo has mostly contributed to Texas's special teams unit this season, taking 70 snaps with the field-goal kicking unit over a dozen games.
After taking over 130 offensive snaps while playing over a dozen games for the Longhorns, including the Big 12 Championship Game and College Football Playoff semifinal game last season, Agbo's role with the offense as a flex blocking tight end and/or O-Lineman has dipped quite a bit this year.
Agbo has taken 11 offensive snaps at left tackle this season, all coming in the season opener against Colorado State in Week 1. He's also taken nearly a dozen snaps at right guard in garbage time for the Longhorns' offensive line in convincing victories over UL-Monroe in the non-con, and the Florida Gators in a 49-17 win in Week 11 in SEC play.
