The Texas baseball roster was filled with stars this season, and a few of those beloved Longhorns are likely heading to the majors.

That's extremely exciting for players like outfielder Aiden Robbins, catcher Carson Tinney, and the rest of the Texas Longhorns projected to hear their names called in the 2026 MLB Draft. However, it also means that head coach Jim Schlossnagle has some rebuilding to do.

Now, don't worry. Head coach Jim Schlossnagle hasn't lost his entire roster with stars like shortstop Adrian Rodriguez, pitcher Dylan Volantis, and others sticking around for at least one more season on the 40 Acres.

Plus, the Horns landed the No. 4 recruiting class of 2026, featuring 21 prospects who will either hear their names called in the Draft or will suit up in burnt orange and white next season.

Texas Longhorns projected 2027 baseball lineup

With Rodriguez at shortstop and Casey Borba at first base, the Horns will have a good amount of consistency and experience on the infield. Anthony Pack Jr., who was the SEC Freshman of the Year this season, will also undoubtedly keep his job as a starting outfielder.

  • Catcher: Andrew Ermis
  • 1st base: Casey Borba
  • 2nd base: Ethan Mendoza
  • 3rd base: Linkin Garcia
  • Shortstop: Adrian Rodriguez
  • Outfield: Anthony Pack Jr., Jonah Williams, Maddox Monsour
  • Starting pitchers: Sam Cozart, Dylan Volantis, Jason Flores/Ethan Walker

Ethan Mendoza will likely return to the starting lineup at second base, joined by Texas Tech transfer Linkin Garcia at third, and returning backup catcher Andrew Ermis behind the plate to round out the infield.

Jonah Williams, a two-sport athlete who suffered a shoulder injury and received reparative surgery this season, and Maddox Monsour will most likely join Pack in the outfield.

Volantis will retain his job as a starter on the mound, and Schlossnagle has already confirmed that rising sophomore Sam Cozart will earn a starting role from the bullpen. Most likely, Jason Flores or Ethan Walker will be the third starting pitcher in the rotation for the Longhorns.

Beyond the players returning for another season at Texas, the 21 additions Schlossnagle made set the Horns up for success for years to come, even if some of them head to the MLB.

The Horns' recruiting class of 2026 only trails the Vanderbilt Commodores, LSU Tigers, and Tennessee Volunteers in the national rankings.
