An unexpected pairing has emerged ahead of the 2025 NFL Combine. Former Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy have teamed up to work on Ewers' board work ahead of the former Longhorns' day at the Combine.
Board work refers to a player's conversation with NFL teams' general managers, coaches, staff, and other board representatives from the league.
In a report of Ewers and McCarthy's connection, it was shared that the young quarterback is also working with Jeff Christensen, a long-time QB trainer and former NFL quarterback.
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers will throw at the combine, per sources. Ewers is healthy from the torn oblique he played through this season and is doing board work with Mike McCarthy and throwing with Jeff Christensen.

News of Ewers' initially-reported oblique strain actually being an oblique tear was broken just days ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, alongside the news that his body had reportedly returned to full health and he was ready to show off his arm.

Quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs are scheduled to go through on-field drills at noon CT on Saturday, March 1. It has been reported that Ewers plans to participate in throwing drills on Saturday, unlike former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Ewers suffered multiple injuries throughout his collegiate career, apart from the torn oblique. From a broken collarbone to a strained shoulder, the Combine is one of the last chances for the former Longhorn to show off his throwing skills.
Throughout the week of the NFL Combine, Ewers will meet with various teams and organizations in a further effort to boost his Draft stock, when hopefully his work with McCarthy pays off.
