On the eve of the Early Signing Period, the Longhorns received the pledge of 4-star ATH Toray Davis, who was committed to UCLA earlier today. He marks the third recruit that Texas has been able to flip from a BIG 10 school in three weeks, and the sixth overall flip in the last month.
The Longhorns have gained a lot of recruiting momentum after their upset of Texas A&M, and it couldn't have happened at a more perfect time with the Early Signing Period beginning tomorrow morning.
Toray Davis, a 6'1", 185-pound athlete from Fairview HS (Boulder, CO) is currently the 18th-ranked ATH in the class of 2026. Though he's classified as an ATH, the coaching staff most likely plans on having him play either safety or cornerback in Austin.

He's an extremely fluid mover on the field and has a very high ceiling as an overall athlete. He has great ball skills, consistently tracking and high-pointing the football as both a receiver and defensive back in high school. He also times his jumps very well on defense, routinely breaking up passes against sizeable opponents.
Davis loves to hit and make plays against the run as well, routinely showing off his above average tackling ability in the open-field.
Based on the simple fact that Texas is losing quite a few players at safety following the 2025 season, it's safe to say that Davis is a welcomed addition by the defensive staff right now. The Longhorns are most likely losing both Michael Taaffe and Jelani McDonald to the 2026 NFL Draft, and the depth behind Derek Williams Jr. and Xavier Filsaime is looking pretty bleak outside of Jonah Williams.
Based on how things have been going for Texas in terms of recruiting and flipping commits, it's probably safe to say that Toray Davis won't be the last player to make a flip to Texas.
