It was just announced that former Longhorns basketball head coach Rodney Terry is officially joining Vanderbilt as an assistant coach for the 2026/2027 season.
Terry, who served on Texas' staff as an assistant under legendary HC Rick Barnes from 2002-2011, and then again under Chris Beard from 2021-2023, took over as the interim head coach of the Longhorns in 2023 before making the role permanent until 2025.
Though Terry did fairly well during his time as head coach, the Longhorns wanted to make a change after the team's NCAA Tournament struggles since 2021. This doesn't take away from the fact that he at least led Texas to the big dance in all three seasons as head coach, including an Elite Eight appearance in 2023.

Though he reportedly had multiple offers for different roles, Terry has ultimately decided to join the Commodores for the upcoming season, and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.
