Rival SEC program attempting to hijack Texas' top 2027 commit

It looks like Florida is currently trying to pry 2027 5-star WR Easton Royal away from Texas.

Easton Royal, the third-ranked wide receiver recruit in the 2027 class, committed to Texas on November 29th. Though he apparently fell in love with Austin during his visit last summer, it looks like he's unfortunately still "open" to visiting other schools.

Due to him being pretty honest and open about his recruiting mindset, Florida has begun a huge campaign to get him to flip recently. The two parties are scheduled to meet this week and Longhorn Nation is hoping that he leaves Gainesville without flipping.

Luckily, it's still early on in the process and even if he does flip soon, it doesn't mean that he can't be flipped back by the time signing day gets here.

It's not hard to see why so many other schools are after Royal right now, as he has the potential to be an absolute superstar at wide receiver for any program. The 5'11", 185-pound playmaker has exceptional route-running skills for a high school player, and he's able to create consistent separation against decent competition each week.

Royal also blew scouts away last summer at multiple Under Armour All-Star events:

"Royal won the fastest man competition, edging Merrideth with an unofficial 4.29-second effort in the 40-yard dash. That would have topped the showcase's three previous winners –(4.35),(4.37) and(4.39). A track star at New Orleans Brother Martin, not many can attack verically like Royal with his speed. He was one of the more productive pass catchers during the 7-on-7 game and was able to race past multiple defenders down the sidelines for a long touchdown."

National Scouting Analyst for 247Sports, Gabe Brooks also raved about Royal after his performance at a UA camp:

"Royal represented one of the most consistent competitors of the day, regardless of position. He did most things well, from mid- and top-of-route separation and ball skills that translated to multiple levels and contested scenarios."

It's safe to say that his outlook at the next level is incredibly bright, and Texas hopes that they'll be able to keep him committed despite tons of pressure from other schools.
