Over the past few years, it has felt like Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns have simply gotten what they wanted when it comes to top prospects on the recruiting trail.
Since 2022, the Horns haven't had a recruiting class ranked lower than No. 7 in the country, and it looks as though that trend will continue in 2026. However, Texas's latest target is being hunted by a few top teams, and is already committed to another SEC program.
Legend Bey, a four-star athlete who has excelled at quarterback over the last few years, committed to the Tennessee Volunteers in June, but the Longhorns just extended him an offer, becoming the latest program to try to flip the prospect's commitment.
Ohio State and Texas vying for a flip
The Ohio State Buckeyes, who are the currently-ranked No. 1 team in the country and the defending National Champions, have been working to flip Bey for quite a while, even hosting the young athlete for a visit to kick off the month of November.
An advantage that the Horns have over the Buckeyes? Well, Bey is from North Forney, TX, which is less than four hours away from Texas's home field at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Of course, it is undeniably every young athlete's dream to play for the National Championship, or at the very least for a team that has won a National Championship in the last two decades.
However, if Sarkisian and his staff can lean on Bey's home-state connection to the Longhorns, then they just may be able to flip his commitment in their direction.
As of now, On3 and Rivals still give Tennessee an 83.1 percent chance to cement Bey's decision, giving the Buckeyes less than a one percent chance to flip his commitment. Just hours after the Horns extended Bey an offer, the recruiting site had yet to update Texas's odds.

The Longhorns' class of 2026, which Bey would join if he flipped, is currently ranked seventh in the nation, just one spot ahead of Ohio State. The Volunteers' class is ranked right after that at ninth.
So far, the Horns have received commitments from three five-stars, 10 four-stars, and seven three-stars. The Buckeyes claim one five-star, 14 four-stars, and eight three-stars.
