Sean Miller explodes on Texas assistant for almost ruining game-winner vs NC State

Thankfully, the refs didn't call a tech on one of Texas' assistant coaches last night.

Last night's play-in game victory over North Carolina State was exactly what Texas fans needed after an up-and-down season in 2025/2026. The game-winning shot by Tramon Mark was almost erased when a Longhorns assistant coach, Ryan Anderson, ran onto the court before the game clock ran out, though.

Usually, this would result in a technical foul, wiping away Mark's basket. For some odd but incredibly relieving reason, the ref standing right in front of Anderson when he ran onto the court didn't call the foul. Whether he realized that there wasn't enough time on the clock for NC State to do anything anyway if he did call it, or he was just caught off-guard, nothing happened.

Deservingly, Sean Miller absolutely blew up on Anderson the second he got back to the bench as he almost cost the team it's Round of 64 berth.

Miller most likely felt a little more "open" about being so harsh on Anderson because the two have known each other forever. Miller coached Anderson as a player at Arizona, and then he brought him onto his staff at Xavier, where the two worked together for three seasons before making the move to Texas in 2025.

How incredibly heartbreaking would it have been for something like that to ruin the Longhorns' season? Anderson would've never been able to live that one down for however long he would've coached in Austin.

Ultimately, nothing happened, and it's something that Miller and Anderson have to put behind them as the team is set to face the nation's leading scorer in A.J. Dybantsa and the BYU Cougars tomorrow night.
