5-star combo guard Austin Goosby from Melissa High School (Melissa, TX) has officially committed to the Longhorns according to 247Sports.com. Goosby is currently ranked as the No.2 overall basketball player in the state of Texas, and is also the younger brother of Trevor Goosby, the starting left tackle on the football team.

Austin Goosby is also Sean Miller's first top 25 recruit as the head coach of Texas.

The 6'5", 186-pound combo guard/wing has a 6'9" wingspan and is an effective defender in both the front and backcourt. His combination of size and athleticism gives him the speed and quickness to defend guards, while his overall length and vertical ability has allowed him to shut down bigger 3's and 4's at the prep level.

He's an extremely smooth mover off-ball and knows when to cut towards the basket to make easy plays on offense for his team as well. Goosby's one of those players who always seems to be in the right place at the right time, showing off his IQ and knowledge of the game.

Though he does need to work on his release and 3-point shooting at Texas, he undoubtedly has the talent and mindset to develop into a star for Sean Miller and Co.
