New Texas head coach Sean Miller is bringing a familiar face to Austin. Forward Dailyn Swain, who played under Miller the past two seasons at Xavier, has decided to follow the only coach he's known at the college level south and become a Longhorn.
Swain is a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward who averaged 11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 2024-25 as a sophomore. That came after he posted just 4.6 points and 3.0 rebounds as a true freshman.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Swain started all but one of Xavier's games this season while helping the Musketeers reach the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Of course, to get to that point, Xavier had to go through Texas in one of the First Four games in Dayton, Ohio.
In that 86-80 Musketeer victory, he scored 11 points on 5-9 shooting while pulling down four rebounds and handing out three assists in 29 minutes of action.

For the season, he had ten double-figure scoring performances and three double-doubles. His best showing this season came against NCAA Tournament team, Illinois, when he posted 27 points (a season-high) and grabbed eight rebounds.
Swain also had a 16-point, five-rebound effort against Big East champion St. John's, a 15-point, four-rebound game against UCONN, and a 13-point, 10-rebound showing against Marquette. Each of those Big East teams also reached the NCAA Tournament this season.
Coming out of high school, Swain was a four-star prospect. According to the 247Sports.com composite rankings, he was the No. 89 overall player and the No. 21 small forward in the class of 2023. He picked Xavier over offers from Arizona State, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and others.
Of course, adding help at the forward position is a priority for Texas this offseason. The program is losing senior forwards Arthur Kaluma, Jayson Kent, Ze'Rik Onyema, and Kadin Shedrick to graduation. Thus, Swaim likely won't be the only forward Miller brings in from the transfer portal.
What's more, Swaim can help Miller build the type of culture he wants to instill in the program as he shapes the culture in Austin to his desires. So, this addition could pay dividends both on and off the court, given that Swaim will likely be leaned on to set an example for his new teammates since he knows what his head coach expects.
According to 247Sports, Swaim is the No. 26 player and No. 3 small forward currently in the transfer portal. He's a great addition for the new coaching staff and the first of what Texas fans hope will be several key additions Miller is able to make in the coming days and weeks as he builds the program in his first offseason on the Forty Acres.
