In a much-needed victory over their biggest rivals, Texas silenced a countless number of doubters throughout the college football world. The amount of people who believed that the Sooners were going to absolutely dominate the Longhorns in week 7 seemingly outnumbered the "Texas believers" 10 to 1. Regardless of this, Texas never stopped fighting and they were able to take down a surging Sooners squad that was riding high at 5-0.
Arch Manning showed resiliency, confidence, and improvement in multiple phases of the game on Saturday. His no-nonsense attitude and toughness continues to shine each week despite being beat up due to a less than impressive offensive line.
Following the game, Sarkisian lauded Manning's toughness and perseverance:
“Arch (Manning) took a lot of hits last week. The biggest thing that impressed me this week about this game was he didn’t miss one rep of practice this week. He came back Monday, he was beat up, he was not 100%, but he took every rep.”
"That’s the toughness that he had to have.”
If anybody on the Longhorns' offense needs to be tough, it's Arch. Despite having a rough start to the season, his ability to keep getting up and pushing forward is one of the main reasons why Texas' offense has been steadily improving every week.
Sark also mentioned his team's fighting spirit throughout the Oklahoma matchup:
“I think we learned how to fight today. We don’t have to wait until the 12th round to try to knock somebody out to win the game. We can win rounds, and we can continue to fight for four quarters. We saw the true character of the men in that locker room today.”
This was undoubtedly the most exciting performance by this Longhorns team in 2025, and it really showed a lot about the team's heart. Absolutely nobody though that Texas could beat the Sooners in week 7, and needless to say, Steve Sarkisian and Co. were able to "stick it" to the haters on Saturday.
