Steve Sarkisian's praise for Arch Manning is all Texas fans need to hear to relax

Despite the Texas football team and beat reporters alike sharing clip after clip of highlight-reel-worthy passes by quarterback Arch Manning, doubt flooded the 40 Acres after the Longhorns' defense dominated the final scrimmage of fall camp.

Immediately, people started selling their stock on the Texas Longhorns, but it was far too early for anyone to hit the panic button.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian's latest comments on Manning's performance throughout fall camp only cemented that fact.

"He's had a great camp, man. I'm pumped about it. I think his rapport with Ryan [Wingo] and Cam [Coleman] and Emmett [Mosley] is really high. I think his rapport with our running backs is really high - those guys are good players, and they can catch the ball, and that takes timing, that takes rapport, and so I'm very excited," Sarkisian said.

Sarkisian had specifically been asked if he had any doubts or hesitations about his starting quarterback, and he had nothing but praise for Manning, who is flying toward his second season as Texas's QB1.

A want for improvement isn't a sign for concern about Arch Manning

"I'm excited for him. I think he's going to play really well. Again, we've got two more weeks to continue to sharpen up, but I'm very excited for where he's at and what type of camp he's had," Sarkisian said.

Of course, saying that he wants Manning (and very likely the team as a whole) to improve may have made a few people's ears burn. However, it is far from out of the ordinary for a head coach to say he wants to use every second available to make his quarterback as good as possible.

Especially when it comes to the head coach of a college football program like that at the University of Texas.

Not to mention the fact that Sarkisian is far from the only person on the 40 Acres who has shared praise for Manning over the two weeks of fall camp.

Blue-chip transfer wide receiver Cam Coleman, who is projected to be a top-two wideout in CFB this season, even went as far as to say that Manning was a big reason for him choosing Texas over any other program that wanted him out of the portal.

"We're building chemistry every day," Coleman said on his relationship with Manning. "Him throwing every day, really just watching film, him telling me where he wants me to be on routes. Just building chemistry every day."

And, of course, Manning's connection with wide receiver Ryan Wingo has already proven to be one of the strongest in the nation. Just a year ago, Manning and Wingo connected for 834 yards and seven touchdowns through the air.

Simply put, the panic that one scrimmage instilled into the lives of college football fans was entirely uncalled for, and Sarkisian's message about Manning should do nothing but calm the fears of anyone who wears burnt orange in the fall.
