Per On3's Hayes Fawcett, four-star Tampa (FL) Wiregrass Ranch cornerback Graceson Littleton has committed to Texas football. Texas needed a second cornerback commitment in the 2025 recruiting class, which it moved on quickly with the highly touted blue-chip CB from the Sunshine State.
Texas football adds 4-Star Graceson Littleton, its highest-rated corner commit in the 2025 class
Littleton had been committed to the Clemson Tigers for nearly five months before re-opening his recruitment on Nov. 1. He committed to the Longhorns over the Michigan Wolverines and Clemson this afternoon.
In the past couple of weeks, Littleton took official visits to see Texas (Nov. 9) and Michigan (Nov. 2), respectively. It didn't take long after Littleton's official visit to Texas, where he saw the Longhorns dominate the Florida Gators at DKR by a score of 49-17, to give his pledge to take his talents to Austin for his collegiate career.
Littleton told On3's Chad Simmons that he liked the scheme fit, and his ability to develop at a high level led him to choose Texas.
"I committed to Texas and I made the final decision last night. I chose Texas because of their stability right now along with their culture. Their defensive scheme makes them a great fit for me too. I think over the last four years, they’ve only continued to grow and they continue to bring in great players. I feel like I could be developed there as well."Graceson Littleton on choosing Texas
Texas did a nice job making a very positive impression on Littleton during his official visit to Austin last weekend. He spent time with the coaching staff, got to witness the player meetings, and connected with some of the players during the trip on Saturday.
"I’ve never been there before, so I didn’t exactly know how it would be. I didn’t realize that the facility was in the downtown area. The culture was good. It was nice to get around some of the current players and hear their views on the program."Graceson Littleton
Littleton adds man coverage ability and quickness/agility to Texas's secondary
Cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and the Longhorns are getting a polished 6-foot and 175-pound cornerback with tremendous ability in man coverage and quick hips and agile feet in Littleton. The talented corner from Florida has the type of speed and quickness that will make him a very decisive corner in man coverage.
He's got sub-11.0-second 100-meter dash speed, allowing him to run with opposing wideouts downfield to cover the deep pass in coverage assignments. Littleton also has the acceleration and speed in change of direction to stick with just about any opposing wideout he matches up with in the defensive secondary.
Play recognition and intelligence on the football field are also major assets that Littleton brings to the table. He can be a ball hawk in the secondary, quickly picking up on different developing route concepts and timing to make a play on the ball.
Littleton will be a dynamic corner and special teams that who can make plays for the Longhorns in the defensive backfield and with the punt and kick return game, with the speed and elusiveness he possesses.
Projection and fit at Texas
Since he's not the longest cornerback, Littleton would have to grow a bit more to fill out his frame to be a true boundary corner in Pete Kwiatkowski's defense. More than likely, Littleton initially projects to play field corner in PK's defensive scheme.
If Littleton fills out his frame more over the next couple of years in college, he could definitely play more boundary corner, given his ability to re-direct routes and play press-man at the line of scrimmage in pass coverage.
