6'8", 225-pound PF Declan Duru officially committed to the Longhorn basketball program on Tuesday, adding much-needed size and strength to the Texas frontcourt.
Duru, who hails from Munich, Germany currently plays for Real Madrid's U19 team. He's averaging 12 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.4 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game in the Spanish U-19 league.
With only two players taller than 6'8" on the current roster, Texas basketball desperately needed Duru's size and frame on the team for 2025. His ability to score when slashing through the lane and on pick-and-rolls could vastly improve the team's ability to get easy baskets in new Texas HC Sean Miller's offense.

The 6'9, 18-year old power forward had a strong showing for silver medalist Germany at last week's FIBA U19 World Cup.

He's also shown the ability to make exciting plays above the rim from time to time, as well as being a dominant finisher in transition. His 7'0" wingspan and 31.5" standing vertical also makes him an absolute menace on the defensive side, consistently making it hard for players to arc the ball over his extended arms. His athleticism along with his sneaky ball-handling skills have even caused some scouts to speculate whether or not he could see minutes at small forward as well.
Duru should have the chance to see legitimate playing time in the Longhorns frontcourt in 2025 at both power forward and center.
