Top 2027 quarterback prospect Kavian Bryant finally made his way to Texas for a game. The 5-star from Palestine, Texas, took in Saturday's 55-0 blowout win over Sam Houston State and got a chance to see what he wanted to see from the program.
And, if there was any doubt, Bryant left Austin knowing he was the top quarterback on Texas' recruiting board.

The recruiting battle for Bryant feels like it could come down to Texas and Texas Tech, but Florida State tried to shoot their shot at Bryant by getting him on campus earlier this season when the Seminoles played Alabama. Michigan and Colorado have also been mentioned as potential out-of-state fits, while SMU is another in-state program that has tried to stay active with Bryant.
Did Texas vault itself to the top for Bryant?
If the Longhorns aren't Bryant's top school right now, I would be shocked. It feels like both sides are destined to be together, but they have been slow playing each other for a few months. Almost as if Texas wanted Bryant to get out and see the other options first, so he knew that couldn't compare to what the Longhorns program has to offer him.
Bryant all but confirmed that line of thinking when he spoke to Rivals/On3 reporter Sam Spiegelman about his visit and his overall feelings about Texas.
“Texas remains a top school for me. My family and I have always thought I was a good fit (at Texas). We are looking for the school that believes that I’m their guy," Bryant said.
Is Bryant almost set on a decision date?
Previously, Bryant had said he'd like to make a decision sometime in the fall, maybe October or November. That checks out right for most of the top quarterback prospects — they usually want to be committed a year before the Early Signing Period for their respective class, but it allows them to help recruit for the program and be the centerpiece of the class.
Bryant has yet to set a date for his announcement. He's been to Tallahassee, he's been to Lubbock, and he's been to Austin. Will he take a trip to SMU or Colorado or somewhere else before setting a date? I believe Texas looks at Texas Tech as being its top contender for Bryant and if that's the case, it's going to be a very fierce with a lot of big NIL amounts flying around.
