Texas and Sean Miller given rough injury news right before the NCAA Tournament

An odd series of events has ultimately ended with a "no longer with us" designation for one Texas basketball player.

Over the course of the 2025/2026 season, Texas PF Lassina Traore has shown flashes of greatness in the frontcourt, but his injury-ridden year has seemingly come to an end after suffering a "knee injury" in February.

The reason I have quotation marks around "knee injury" is due to the simple fact that no information whatsoever has come out regarding the injury. Every week since early February, it's just been repeated that he has a knee injury, and it's kept him out every week since then. There hasn't been talk of surgery or rehab either.

It's incredibly concerning because he was on the bench and dressed for a couple of games recently, but Sean Miller and Co. ruled him out at the last minute. Something seems to be going on behind the scenes here, as now all of a sudden, Sean Miller has come out and said:

"I don't think that he'll be with us, unfortunately, moving forward."

This appears to be way more than just an injury problem because Miller and Co. have been pretty good about reporting and giving updates on injuries this year. The fact that nothing has been divulged whatsoever about the Traore situation is very odd. All the coaching staff has to do is simply put out a release describing the extent of the injury and the timetable, but nothing like that has ever been done.

Traore followed Miller to Texas alongside Dailyn Swain from Xavier, and the big man has officially ended his 2025/2026 season averaging 3.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
