The baseball season is now officially over for the Texas Longhorns, but that does not mean the baseball program can sit back and relax just yet.
As head coach Jim Schlossnagle and the team recover from their heartbreaking loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the College World Series, the coaching and recruiting staff won't take any time off.
Instead, Schlossnagle and his team will dive headfirst into the transfer portal, working to fill in gaps left behind by departures and graduations.

Beloved players like outfielder Aiden Robbins, pitcher Luke Harrison, and a few more Longhorns reached the end of their eligibility when the season ended. While Texas has an elite recruiting class joining in the fall, the Horns can't shy away from adding depth and talent through the transfer portal.
Texas baseball additions from the transfer portal
Before Texas even punched its ticket to the College World Series, Schlossnagle received a commitment from former Texas Tech shortstop Linkin Garcia, kicking off the start of what could be a strong transfer portal recruiting class.
Of course, Schlossnagle is far from done in the portal, and Texas fans should keep their eyes peeled for more commitments to come.
- Linkin Garcia, sophomore, shortstop from Texas Tech Red raiders
While Garcia probably won't play shortstop for the Horns, with that role undoubtedly still going to fan-favorite Adrian Rodriguez, he was an elite addition to Texas's roster. Garica is a projected early-round pick in the 2027 MLB Draft and was massive for Schlossnagle to land, keeping his talent away from other programs.
Texas baseball departures to the transfer portal
So far, no current Longhorns have announced their departure to the transfer portal, shoring up a talented roster that Schlossnagle built over the last two years.
Texas baseball recruiting class of 2026
Schlossnagle landed the No. 4 recruiting class of 2026 (only trailing Vanderbilt, LSU, and Tennessee), adding 21 commits from the recruiting cycle to add a ton of depth to the Longhorns' roster.
- Grady Emerson, shortstop
- Brody Bumila, left-handed pitcher
- Beau Peterson, third baseman
- Easton Autry, third baseman
- Cooper Harris, right-handed pitcher
- Trey Rangel, right-handed pitcher
- James Jorgensen, right-handed pitcher
- Phinn Beaird, left-handed pitcher
- Cooper Webb, right-handed pitcher
- Brady Murrietta, catcher
- Karson Reeder, right-handed pitcher
- Jax Robinson, catcher
- Jack Smejkal, right-handed pitcher
- Resiton Durham, shortstop
- Hayes Holton, right-handed pitcher
- Matthew Manis, left-handed pitcher
- Trenton Maybin, outfielder
- Lawson Behan, shortstop
- Bryce Krenek, left-handed pitcher
- Tucker Thompson, left-handed pitcher
- Cohen Tigerina, outfielder
Unsurprisingly, over half of Texas's additions in the recruiting class will join pitching coach Max Weiner's bullpen in the next year, joining one of the best pitching staffs in the nation.

Beyond Schlossnagle's incoming players from high school or the transfer portal, he will have SEC Freshman of the Year Anthony Pack Jr. on the roster again, as well as ace pitchers Dylan Volantis and Sam Cozart returning to the mound for Texas.
