It's that time of year again. Conferences are hosting their lead-up-to basketball media days, and that includes the SEC, which is set to hold its annual basketball tip-off in Birmingham in less than a week.

In attendance, of course, will be both the Texas Longhorns men's and women's teams, alongside the 30 other programs in the conference.

Men's head coach Sean Miller has an almost entirely rebuilt program, while women's head coach Vic Schaefer hung on to a lot of his talent this offseason. Both added incredible depth to the Texas rosters.

So, as the two groups try to put their best foot forward, the two head coaches will be joined by three players apiece in Birmingham, including a few recognizable and beloved names:

To the surprise of no one, senior forward Madison Booker will join Schaefer at the media days, alongside projected starting point guard Bryanna Preston and center Breya Cunningham.

While Schaefer and Booker have both done this dance before, it will be a first for both Preston and Cunningham, with the Horns sending former point guard Rori Harmon and center Kyla Oldacre last year before the pair headed to the WNBA after the end of the season.

However, Preston and Cunningham are far from new to the Texas program, with the guard joining the Horns as a true freshman in 2024 and the center transferring to play for Schaefer after two years with the Arizona Wildcats.

Matas Vokietaitis only Texas returner to attend SEC MBB Media Days

Meanwhile, as Schaefer brings a trio of returners to Birmingham with him, Miller will only have one returning Texas player in his envoy: center Matas Vokietaitis.

In fact, Vokietaitis is Miller's only returning starter in the lineup, with most of Texas's roster comprised of players added from the transfer portal or in the Longhorns' recruiting class of 2026.

Those additions include small forward David Punch, who transferred to Texas from TCU, and point guard Isaiah Johnson, who transferred from Colorado. Both newcomers will be in Birmingham with Miller and Vokietaitis.

While the trio has a mixed bag of journeys to the 40 Acres, they are all considered as projected starters in this year's lineup, alongside true freshmen Austin Goosby at shooting guard and Marcus Spears Jr. at power forward.

Both the Texas men and women are projected to be one of the top teams in the country this season, with the men landing as high as No. 6 in some preseason polls, just behind the women, who have consistently been a top-four team over the last few years.

Even Vegas oddsmakers have both Miller and Schaefer's squads in the top-10 of favorites to win the National Championship, the men tied for seventh and the women in fourth.

Simply put, you are going to want to see and hear what these two quartets do and say in Birmingham this year, because we are about to have an extremely exciting season of basketball on the 40 Acres.
