Texas native and Longhorn commit Jonah Williams earned a top-20 spot in the latest On300 rankings of prospects in the class of 2025. The five-star safety is the No. 10 player in the country for his class and the No. 1 player at his position.

Williams committed to Texas just ahead of the Horns' 2024 football season. He also had offers from top programs like Oregon, LSU, Texas A&M, and USC.

The safety received endless praise from On3's Director of Scouting and Rankings, Charles Power, in the latest list of five-star prospects:

“Jonah Williams has the size, athleticism, and playmaking instincts to be a potential queen on the chessboard for defensive coordinators," Power said. "He is built like a linebacker with the athleticism of a top defensive back. Williams is a true three-phase playmaker on Friday nights, lining up at safety, wide receiver, and punt returner.

"He’s an easy, fluid mover with a good top gear and covers ground in a hurry — whether that’s with the ball in his hands or track a ball carrier," Power continued. "He also shows outstanding range in coverage and has high-level ball skills with the ability to track the football over his shoulder. Notched  four interceptions as a junior along with eight pass breakups, and he’s one of the nation’s more dynamic players with the ball in his hands.”

Williams is a dual-threat player to a tee. Similarly to Colorado's current two-way star Travis Hunter, Williams can play both sides of the ball and has even had a few shining moments during punt and kick returns.

In one of his recent star-studded games, Williams picked off a pass attempt, and who else would be on the sidelines other than his future coach, Texas' HC Steve Sarkisian?

Williams was born to be a Longhorn and as his senior season unfolded, the nation only learned just how good of a Longhorn he was going to be.
