Texas continues to clown Oklahoma and Texas A&M in the 2026 SEC power rankings

CBS Sports recently published it's updated SEC power rankings for 2026, and Longhorns fans should be excited.

Similar to how Texas owns the Sooners and Aggies on the field, they continue to outshine them in the eyes of the national media as well. Along with a couple of other media outlets, CBS Sports just released its updated post-spring power rankings, and Texas received a nice little boost within the past month or so.

The Longhorns now officially rank above the Georgia Bulldogs, and hopefully, they'll be able to hold that spot throughout the rest of the offseason.

CBS Sports' updated post-spring power rankings

1. Texas

2. Georgia

3. LSU

4. Ole Miss

5. Texas A&M

6. Alabama

7. Oklahoma

8. Tennessee

9. Florida

10. Missouri

11. South Carolina

12. Auburn

13. Vanderbilt

14. Kentucky

15. Mississippi State

16. Arkansas

Texas fans should be elated for multiple reasons when it comes to these new rankings, both for where their rivals are, as well as the things that CBS had to say about the program this year.

CBS Sports makes sure to specifically mention that this 2026 Steve Sarkisian squad is one of the most talented groups that he's had in Austin:

"If you were building an all-time Longhorns team during Steve Sarkisian's tenure, several 2026 starters would headline the roster -- that's how talented this group is on the Forty Acres."

This is undoubtedly true, as they have one of the top quarterbacks, running back duos, and wide receiver core in the entire country heading into the 2026 season. The way Raleek Brown, Hollywood Smothers, Cam Coleman, Ryan Wingo, and Emmett Mosely performed in spring have convinced some Texas legends to believe that this could be one of the most talented group of overall skill players that the Longhorns have ever had.

Yes, the 2026 schedule is going to be rough for Arch Manning and Co., but the amount of sheer talent and experience that the Longhorns now have should offset that part of the equation. CBS also has a similar thought process to this:

"No national contender faces a more difficult schedule than Texas, but if any team can handle that grind, it's the Longhorns."

Aside from the praise that the outlet gives Texas, one of the other appealing aspects about the updated list is where CBS Sports has Texas A&M and Oklahoma ranked.

There we a couple of early rankings that had A&M much higher than No.5, but it looks like people have started to realize that the Aggies might be the most overrated team in all of college football. Marcel Reed hasn't done a single thing to warrant the type of hype that he was receiving throughout the spring, and they essentially lost their entire starting offensive line from 2025. To be 100% honest, it's even a little odd to see them inside the top 7-8 in the conference.

Oklahoma being at No.7 is probably pretty accurate, but let's see if they end up getting pushed down in the rankings when CBS updates them again during the summer.
