Now that the regular season is over, different sports outlets having been coming out with their 2025 All-America teams. Most recently, On3 shared theirs on social media and they seemingly left out one of the most disruptive defenders in America: Texas DE Colin Simmons.
Instead, they decided to not only include a pass rusher who only had one season of production, but still had a worse win-rate and other pass rush metrics than Simmons in 2025.

It's obvious that On3 made this "All-America Team" by only looking at box scores, as Simmons was way more disruptive and effective on a play-by-play basis than Ohio State's Caden Curry this year, despite Simmons only playing in 11 games.
Very few players averaged at least one sack per game in 2025 like Simmons did, and his presence was felt almost every time an opposing quarterback dropped back to pass. Some could argue that Simmons was the most disruptive pass rusher in the league this year on a down-by-down basis according to multiple different metrics.

The amount of disrespect that Simmons gets on the national stage has been really concerning this year. Yes, he was talked about quite a bit as a true freshman in 2024 and in some cases this season, but it's just surprising not to see him getting more recognition overall.
His name hasn't been brought up much by members of the national media outside of gamedays in 2025 and it's absolutely insane. The only logical reason is because of how "disappointing" Texas was as a whole this year, and maybe that put somewhat of a cloud over all Longhorns players. On the other hand, it was nice to see Simmons get recognized as first team All-SEC this season alongside Texas A&M's Cashius Howell.
Let's hope he ends up on some other All-America teams over the next few weeks.
