Mansfield Summit HS (Arlington, TX) blue-chip pass rusher Cameron Hall has officially decided to commit to the University of Texas this morning.
The 6'3", 235-pound defensive end was originally offered a scholarship back in June, on the same day that he arrived for a football camp in Austin. Needless to say, he performed pretty dang well and showed off his overall bend and athleticism heading into his junior season.

He has an excellent, long frame with the room to put on 20-30 more pounds of muscle at the collegiate level.
His above-average ability to read and react to what opposing blockers are doing is what sets him apart from other 2027 defensive end prospects. Not many high school defensive linemen actually take the time to diagnose before hitting a pass rush move, and this allows Hall to be around the football more often than others probably would. Being able to effectively influence offensive linemen with his upper body movement has also allowed him to "set up" blockers on passing downs.
He's very good at the point of attack against the run as well, consistently locking out and fighting off of blocks to both set the edge and funnel outside runs inside.
Hall's commitment gives Texas a developmental pass rusher for the future and a player who could end up being a legitimate replacement for Colin Simmons once he inevitably leaves for the NFL. He'll join the likes of Richard Wesley, Jamarion Carlton, and Lance Jackson as the Longhorns' pass rushers of the future.
